Originally, the SB pistol was designed to be held behind the AR-15 pistol so that the rifles could be fired more easily with just one hand. According to the designer, the inspiration for the bracket was to help veterans with AR pistols fire their rifles more accurately and easily.
The pistol revolver was soon adapted to many other firearms, and now they are available for a variety of firearms and make them by different manufacturers. The brace makes your Glock harder to conceal, meaning carrying it off-body becomes your best option for carrying these weapons. For this reason, adding a Glock brace also changes your gun from something that's a powerful first responder to something that's more like a home defense weapon.
What you lose in quick placement with the Glock brush is made up in extra effective reach. Fast repeatable shots of 25 yards are easy to achieve with a bracket on your gun, and shooting out to 100 yards or more is also very easy to achieve.
With that in mind, let's take a look at some of the Glock bracket options currently available. The three Glock braces we'll look at are the CAA MCK, Flux Defense G19 Brace, and Recover Tactical.
MCK started in 2010 as Roni. This was an accessory that turned a Glock pistol into a short-barreled shotgun. When the SB Brace came along, CAA quickly added it to Roni. This addition allowed users to keep their pistols as handguns in the eyes of the law, rather than converting them to short-barreled rifles.

The MCK Glock brush is different from the other two Glock brushes we will be testing. It has a chassis that covers the entire gun. This means sights or sights must be mounted on the chassis, not the gun. The MCK model we tested is the largest of the three models in our test and takes up the most space to fold or unfold. The bracket folds up and snaps into place on the right side of the gun for more compact storage. To deploy the brace, simply lift the folded part and slide it back. The bracket clicks into place. The MCK also has a front grip that doubles as a spare magazine as standard and a weapon-mounted light, something that outperforms other braces we've tested.
Because the optics of the Glock MCK bracket are mounted on the chassis and not the gun, the gun must be in sight every time you holster the gun. This means time and ammo, and that limits the MCK's ability to quickly transform your Glock from a defense rifle into something meant for long range.
On the plus side, the MCK has a long Picatinny rail section on top of the chassis. This allows you to add common weapon accessories like sights and sights to your brush instead of relying on the sights already attached to your rifle. This also means you can adjust your optics to the correct height and distance for your eyes instead of having to turn your head to use the sight on top of your gun.
Flux Defense launched their line of Glock bracket models in 2019, starting with the Glock 17 and moving on to other weapons. The model we are looking at is a version that fits Gen 4 or Gen 5 Glock 19 pistols, as well as Gen 4 or Gen 5 Glock 23 and 32. The attachment attaches to the back of the pistol using the hole on the various grip modules on Gen 4 or Gen 5 Glocks. Adding a bail to your gun only takes a few minutes and requires a punch or something. Flux Defense includes a bail tool for this, as well as a slightly longer pin to hold the bail in place on your gun.

One of the best things about this mount is how compact it is when not in use. The brace has two spring-loaded arms that pop out with the push of a button on the left arm. I had no problem activating the bail, but it can be a stretch for left-handed shooters. The shackle drops back and locks into place when not extended, and the stiff actuation springs mean it takes quite a bit of force to collapse.
As I said before, off-body wearing is probably the best option for this brace, but unlike the MCK, holster options are available for the Flux Defense brace. A combination flashlight and magazine holder is also available that uses the optional Olight flashlight. Oddly enough, that flashlight and magazine combination is also a good place to put your support hand when firing this weapon, but I'm sure that's just bad luck (sarcasm).
The length of the Flux Protection bracket is limited to the length of the gun frame itself. This made the distance between the end of the bail and the gun's frame (referred to as "draw length") the shortest of the three Glock bails we tested. That narrow space between your face and the gun isn't much of a challenge. The bracket also uses optics mounted on top of your gun, which works well if you use a red dot optic on your gun. However, it can be very difficult to get a good sight image when using steel sights with this gun. The small size has its advantages, but also brings some problems.
The Recover Tactical 20/20 Stabilizer was introduced in early 2020. Recover Tactical uses the word "stabilizer" to describe their products and so will we, except for the part at the very end that goes around your hand. We will continue to refer to that part as the clamp.

At first glance, the stability resembles the Flux Brace. The bracket attaches to the gun itself just like the Flux bracket, but to the gun in a different way. The Recovery Mechanism stabilizer opens like a clam shell to attach to the front of the trigger and rear of the frame of any Glock pistol with a G17 or 19 frame. The strap portion of the stabilizer itself folds over the side of the right side of the gun and quickly takes its place, like MCK, but it is thinner than the other brush.
The Recover Tactical stabilizer has a short piece of Picatinny rail under the front of the bracket, and we've also added two additional rail sections (sold separately) to the side of the bracket. There is also a front-mounted spare magazine conveniently located that attaches to the Picatinny rail under the stabilizer. Unlike other fixtures, there is not one specific flashlight that works with the 20/20 Controller. Instead, you're free to mount your favorite weapon light on any of up to three Picatinny rails, a fun feature that opens up a world of light options and accessories for your Glock pistol.
The Recover Stabilizer is smaller than the MCK Brace, but larger than the Flux Defense Brace. The clamshell design makes it very easy to attach
