"There must be a serious consequence for this type of crime," Mars said in a statement to Sports Illustrated.

"I heard about the MSU players who did this to Gemon. They will feel the wrath of the law."

9:38 a.m. PT - Jim Harbaugh spoke to reporters again Monday ... and called it "death" - telling members of the media that he "can't imagine this not being a criminal charge."

The police said in a statement to Sports on Monday that there is no new information about the investigation.

Four Michigan State football players have been suspended for their roles in a post-game altercation with a Michigan player ... and now police say they're all under investigation.

The University of Michigan Police Department said in a statement Saturday night that it had launched an investigation into the incident.

Speaking to the media, Manuel said Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren, who attended Saturday night, will investigate the dispute. The two university police departments have launched a joint investigation, Michigan Deputy Police Chief Melissa Overton told The Detroit News.

Officers from the Michigan Campus Police Department, the Michigan State Police and the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department were among the agencies working Saturday at Michigan Stadium.

The two university presidents, Samuel L. Stanley of Michigan State and Santa J. Ono of Michigan, issued statements Tuesday morning. Ono said he talked to Stanley, and Stanley commented on what the Michigan State players did.

Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller did not respond to requests for comment from The Post after the game, but did issue a statement Tuesday morning.
